ECC 1st XI vs Crawley Eagles CC, 2nd XI

The boys travelled up to the dreaded Cherry lane to take in Crawley Eagles 2nd XI. The skipper won the toss and elected to bowl.

After being put into bat, Crawley Eagles posted a competitive total of 207 all out in 37.1 overs, thanks to a powerful knock by Arslan Khawaja, supported by crucial contributions from the middle order. In response, Eastergate fought hard but fell short, getting bowled out for 172 in 36.5 overs.

• Arslan Khawaja was the standout performer with an aggressive 60 off 55 balls (8 fours), anchoring the innings.
• Muhammad Ali Piracha added a quick 22 off 19, and Zulfiqar Ali chipped in with 39 off 41.
• Crawley Eagles lost wickets at regular intervals but managed to keep the scoreboard ticking.
• Brad Rose led the bowling for Eastergate with 3 wickets, supported by Craig Edwards and Harvey Reed with 2 wickets each.

Eastergate CC 1st XI Innings – 172 All Out (36.5 Overs)

• Chasing 208, Eastergate had a shaky start but found hope in Harvey Reed, who scored a brisk 31 not out off 21 balls.
• Liam Oakes (34 off 49) and Dan Jadzevics(19 off 32) provided support, but the side lost momentum through the middle overs.
• Wickets were shared among the Crawley bowlers, with Asif Shad, Saim Ayub, Muhammad Ali Piracha, and Jamal Khan all picking up key scalps.
• The run-outs of Muhammad Arif and Mohammed Imran Habeebullakhan added to Eastergate’s troubles as they failed to finish the chase.

Overall a tough loss for the boys to take, we go again next week AWAY to Crawley CC.
