ECC 3rd XI vs Aldwick CC, 3rd XI

First League match of the season couldn’t have been any better start to our debut season.

Skipper Kirsty facing her old club losing the toss and we were put into bat.

It was an explosive and well-paced innings from the team, led by a sensational knock from E Geraets, who lit up the innings with a dominant 134 off just 79 balls, smashing 22 boundaries and 2 sixes at a strike rate of 169.62. His partnership with R Comins laid the perfect platform, with Comins anchoring the innings beautifully with a composed 78 off 80 balls, including 11 fours.

While the openers built the base, there was a quick cameo from D Rose, contributing a handy 24 off 23 balls, keeping the momentum ticking.

Lower down the order, R Geraets added late fireworks with a brisk 46 off 30 balls, including 5 fours and 3 sixes, propelling the total further. A few batters had a brief stay at the crease, including K Booker and A Arman, both contributing 5 runs each.

T Geraets and A Booker chipped in with 1 run apiece, with A Booker remaining not out alongside R Geraets.

Overall, it was a dominant batting performance highlighted by E Geraets’ outstanding century and supported by a strong team effort around him.

The team delivered a collective and disciplined bowling effort, defending their total with smart field placements and consistent pressure.

A Booker was the standout performer with the ball, taking 2 key wickets for 34 runs from his 7 overs. He provided the crucial breakthroughs just as partnerships were starting to form.

Backing him up was D Rose, who bowled a brilliant spell of 3 overs, 1 maiden, 5 runs, and 1 wicket, maintaining a miserly economy of 1.67 and applying the brakes in the middle overs.

E Geraets, fresh off his stunning century, contributed with the ball too—taking 1 wicket for 25 runs in his 5-over spell, including two maidens to build dot-ball pressure.

H Booker and P Edwards also chipped in with 1 wicket apiece, though H Booker’s 3 overs proved a bit expensive at 8.33 per over.

T Geraets, R Comins, and A Arman all bowled useful spells to rotate the attack, with Arman conceding just 11 runs from his 3 overs.

While a few bowlers went for runs, the variety in the attack and timely wickets ensured the opposition never built lasting momentum. A strong all-round team effort helped close out the innings efficiently.

What a superb day of Cricket - On to next week away again to Clymping 2’s.
