Match Report – Eastergate 2nd XI vs Worthing 4th XI

A dominant all-round team display saw Eastergate 2nd XI come away with a commanding win against Worthing 4th XI in a match full of standout performances with both bat and ball.


Batting Performance:

Eastergate set the tone early with a blistering opening stand. R Reed powered his way to 63 off 45 balls, smashing 14 boundaries and scoring at a strike rate of 140.00.

He was perfectly supported by S Grant, who anchored the innings with a patient and well-built 68 off 85 balls, helping lay the foundation for a strong total.

The fireworks continued with J Bateman, who stayed unbeaten on 82 off 71 deliveries, including 12 boundaries, and drove the innings home with intelligent stroke play and controlled aggression.

Quick-fire contributions from M Bentley (23 off 18) and A Foster (15 off 13) added depth to the innings, while Eastergate posted a strong target with plenty of momentum.


Bowling Performance:

The bowlers backed up the batting with an outstanding effort to dismantle Worthing’s reply. The pick of the bowlers was L Wladon, who bowled a game-changing spell of 7 overs, 3 wickets for just 11 runs, at an incredible economy of 1.57.

T Booker was also outstanding, claiming 3 wickets for 28 runs in his 8 overs, consistently applying pressure and breaking key partnerships.

F Geraets made a big impact too, picking up 2 wickets for 33 runs in a tight 8-over spell, while C Bradshaw added a wicket of his own to cap off a tidy bowling performance.

J Dakic led the attack brilliantly, finishing with figures of 9 overs, 2 maidens, 19 runs, keeping the scoring rate under control throughout his spell despite not taking a wicket.


Final Result:

Eastergate 2nd XI were clinical with the bat and relentless with the ball, securing a comprehensive victory that highlighted the depth and strength across the side. With multiple players contributing in both departments, this win marks a strong step forward in the campaign.
