U10s win at Findon

With a mixed group of some established players balanced by some new faces it was a keen team that arrived at a decidedly overcast Findon ground. All 8 boys were raring to go and discussing tactics with the captain, Elijah. The batting pairs and order were ascertained and the team requisitioned a small area of the pitch for some catching and fielding practice before the game.

All four pairs of boys played brilliantly, communicating with their partners and calling out to get as many runs as possible. With the help of three 4s hit by new youngster Malakai, the total soon climbed and after the 16 overs, sat at a very healthy 313 (starting score of 200).

With their energy topped up with squash and biscuits they returned to the pitch to field. Their excellent communication skills continued as they adjusted their positions to keep Findon from making many runs. With pairs rules in place and a wicket meaning a negative score, the boys were keen to keep their bowling on target and once again their training and focus paid off as they took 3 wickets in the first 5 overs.

Seven wickets in total, and tight fielding meant that they were able to keep Findon to a total score of 250 leading to a very well deserved win.

Well done team.
