A Hot and Sticky win.

Updated: Jul 7, 2019

This Saturday saw the 2's face Climping away, on a balmy day. Climping won the toss and chose to bat, a quick start from the openers was as quickly broken when Josh Reed (8-3-38-2) had K Phillips (5) caught by Mark Bentley. M Mitchell (2) was quick to follow uprooted by Rew Reed (9-2-43-4).

Captain D Moon (43) steadied the ship until he fell with J Miller (0) succumbing quickly after both to Rew Reed.

D Brindley (16) and R Tomlinson (20) partnered G Blakemore nicely for him to reach 101 before being caught and bowled by Rew Reed.

Brindley having been bowled by Jake Warner (8-0-41-1) and R Tomlinson falling to a super run out with some good fielding from Jonny Simmons and John Etherington.

Will Wells (7-1-39-0) bowled well with no luck, as did Mark Bentley (4-0-16-0).

Miff Bentley (2-0-15-1) was on target, with Harvey Reed (2-0-14-0).

Climping finished their 40 overs on 210 for 9.

Eastergate started well in reply but J Etherington (17) was caught in the 3rd over by R Tomlinson off the bowling of Mitchell (8.1-0-49-1).

T Radford (23) batted nicely and played some classic shots forming a partnership of 67 with Rew Reed before being caught by F Tomlinson off of Miller (7-0-63-2).

Will Wells (1) fell quickly to Miller caught and bowled, bringing Mark Bentley to the crease.

With his usual 'attack to defend' style Mark plundered the Climping bowling, working with Rew to a 110 run partnership.

The win was sealed in the 34th over with Rew on 97no and Mark hitting the winning runs 49no.

Many thanks to Climping for a good game and very regular (and much needed!!) drinks breaks.
