Super Saturday continued for Eastergate as the 2nd XI gained a nail biting win against Chichester 3rd XI at Priory Park. Batting first Chichester were held in the first 10 overs by some great tight bowling from Curtis Drake (0/23), Henry Grant (1/12) and Aidan Drake (0/14).
It took an amazing one handed diving catch from the evergreen Ian Paine to dismiss Bennison for the first wicket, who looked physically stunned to have been caught!!
3 more from Rew Reed (4/38), 3 from Jonathan Dakic (3/26), 1 from Kevin Ursell (1/12) and some top catches, brought Chichesters innings to a close on 130 -9
In response Eastergate started smartly with John Etherington and John Price looking strong. Price fell for 2 and Aaron Bateman (5) went shortly after. Curtis Drake was looking for runs and didn't disappoint, hitting some classy boundaries and with Etherington the win looked in safe hands. However Etherington fell for 33 with Drake (46) shortly after. Ian Paine took up the mantle and put on an assured 19, but with Adam Ursell, Kevin Ursell and Rew Reed only making 1 run between them, it fell to Henry Grant and Jonathan Dakic to cross the finish line in a slightly nail biting final few overs.
Thats 4 in a row for the 2nd's, well done lads!!!!
