3 Wins in a row!!
The 2nd XI won for the third time in a row on Saturday against Broadbridge Heath 2nd XI. Stand in Skipper, John Etherington started the game well and with opening partner John Price, Eastergate were 70- 0 from only 10 overs. Price (26) fell to Booker and started a mini collapse with the evergreen Etherington looking on from the other end as Morgan Murphy and Blake Weston fell for Ducks. Rew Reed came to the wicket, and with Etherington steadied the ship and Eastergate were back on track. Etherington finally succumbed to Booker on a superb 73. Tom Stannard started with some powerful hitting and rattled 22 runs before being caught and bowled by Barnett. This left Reed with some juniors to bat with, Nick North aided with a good 9 runs and Josh Reed (3 no) helped his Dad to get Eastergate to 202 off of the 40 overs with Reed senior ending on a maiden 54 no.
Broadbridge started very quicklyand it took some accurate bowling from the young Aidan Drake (1-30) to get the breakthrough. Kevin Ursell (3-33) bagged 3 wickets and two catches with Will Wells (1-25) getting a maiden wicket for the seniors, bowling Philip through his legs. Nick North (1-39) bagged 1 wicket and Broadbridge Heath finished on 170 from their 40 overs. Eastergate therefore winning and taking the 30 points!! Well done lads!!!
